Designed a safer feeding tool for rescued Indian Rose-Ringed Parakeet chicks by researching rehabilitation practices, feeding behaviour, and caregiver challenges to reduce harm caused by improper methods.
Every year, thousands of Indian Rose-Ringed Parakeet chicks are rescued from trafficking. Most don't survive — not because of neglect, but because of unsafe feeding tools.
Caregivers use generic syringes that risk aspiration, crop burns, and infections. The problem isn't care — it's the tools.
Through iterative prototyping with actual bird rescuers, the design evolved from concept sketches to a precision feeding instrument.
The final tool features a soft curved tip, controlled flow rate, and ergonomic grip — making every feed safer for both caregiver and chick.
