A smart convertible walker-scooter for toddlers that uses distance and Hall-effect sensing to prevent collisions and control movement, building balance and confidence through safe, assisted play.
Traditional circular walkers let toddlers move before their balance is ready, while push walkers demand real control from day one. GoKiddo builds on the push-walker format and adds sensing to close that safety gap.
Field visits to child health centres and secondary research into injury data told the same story: toppling, collisions with furniture, and uncontrolled speed remain almost entirely unaddressed by existing walkers on the market.
Ideation explored dozens of walker and scooter silhouettes before converging on a single frame that could hold both a walking handle and a seated ride mode, switched by the child's own weight and posture.
An ESP32-S3 reads a ToF distance sensor and a Hall-effect seat sensor to tell walking from riding, triggering servo brakes the instant an obstacle or a drop in balance is detected, all inside a single convertible frame.
Too much light out here. My eyes hurt a little.
