Redesigned medical ointment packaging by examining how users open, hold, and dispense it — addressing accessibility barriers for safe medicine identification and use.
This project examines how something as simple as applying ointment becomes a daily struggle for users with sensory or motor impairments.
Current tube designs rely on visual cues and precise control, creating barriers that turn a simple healing task into frustration, waste, and dependence.
Field interviews revealed that users develop improvised workarounds — tearing tubes, using teeth, or depending on others — none of which are safe or dignified.
The redesigned packaging features dosage feedback, controlled dispensing, tactile identification, and one-hand operation — making medicine accessible to all.
